Flamenco shows in Madrid: Tablaos, theatre and dinner

Madrid offers flamenco in tablaos and on a theatre stage, with different ways to build a night around the performance. Compare Corral de la Morería, Teatro Flamenco Madrid and Cardamomo by setting, neighbourhood and the ticket you actually need.

3 options in this selection

Choose the format before choosing the ticket

A flamenco evening in Madrid can be a performance at a tablao, a theatre visit or a show combined with dining. Begin with the experience that fits your plans. A table-based evening and a theatre production organise your attention differently, while a dinner package adds decisions about food and timing. None of those formats, by itself, establishes the quality of the artists you will hear.

It helps to separate three questions: Where do you want to spend the evening, what kind of setting do you prefer, and does the published programme interest you? Answer those first. Then compare the exact offer for your date, including what the booking does and does not cover.

Corral de la Morería: A tablao with a dining identity

Corral de la Morería is on Calle Morería in Madrid's historic centre. Its official history dates the venue to 1956, and its present offer combines a flamenco tablao with restaurant options. That combination is relevant if you want both the performance and the meal to be part of your evening, rather than treating dinner as an afterthought.

Read the available options carefully. A restaurant reservation and admission to a performance are not automatically the same purchase. Our Corral de la Morería guide explains the main choices to check, including the relationship between dining and the show. Consult the dated programme when you are choosing by artist.

Teatro Flamenco Madrid: Flamenco on a theatre stage

Teatro Flamenco Madrid presents Emociones at Teatro Alfil, on Calle Pez in Malasaña. Its theatre setting gives you a different reference point from a tablao organised around tables. Consider this option if you like planning a focused theatre visit, with the performance as a distinct part of the night.

Use the official website to identify the production and ticket you want. A venue may also advertise other activities or special programmes, so do not assume every item on its calendar is the same show. For an evening with dinner elsewhere, choose your restaurant plans around the confirmed booking rather than relying on a general description.

Cardamomo: A tablao in the Barrio de las Letras

Cardamomo stands on Calle Echegaray in the Barrio de las Letras. Its official website dates its activity to 1994 and publishes artist information alongside its flamenco programme. It also advertises show-and-tapas options. That makes the exact ticket particularly important when comparing a performance visit with an evening that includes food.

The neighbourhood is a useful organising point if you already intend to spend time in the Barrio de las Letras. Check the dated programme for the performers and follow the venue's official booking route for the current offer. A named artist on a general page should prompt a closer look, rather than an assumption that they appear at every performance.

Use the programme to follow an artist

For listeners who already have a favourite singer, dancer or guitarist, a dated programme can be more useful than a venue's reputation. Start with the day you can attend, then read the names and roles in that programme. The same address can host different performers, so a past visitor's description of an artist is not confirmation of the line-up you will see.

If you are new to flamenco, let the programme become an introduction rather than a test of your knowledge. Listen to how singing, guitar and dance interact. Notice when the focus changes and when an artist leaves room for another to respond. You can enjoy those exchanges before learning the vocabulary used to describe them.

Keep dinner and ticket choices clear

If dinner is central to your plans, compare the food option with the same care as the performance. Look for a clear explanation of what is included, how the meal relates to the show and which conditions apply. If you prefer to eat elsewhere, a separate restaurant booking gives you flexibility, provided you leave a comfortable margin around the confirmed performance.

  • Check whether the booking covers admission only, drinks, tapas or a meal.
  • Confirm the ticket category, seating arrangements and arrival instructions.
  • Ask about dietary needs directly when buying a food package.
  • Read the seller's change and cancellation terms before paying.
  • Ask the venue about access requirements and conditions for children when relevant.

Plan a night you can actually enjoy

The three venues give you three neighbourhood anchors: The historic centre, Malasaña and the Barrio de las Letras. Choose the one that works with the rest of your day rather than trying to fit a show into an already crowded itinerary. Confirm the entrance address, leave time to arrive and follow the performance rules on phones and filming. Once seated, give the quieter passages as much attention as the more visible bursts of dance; the music is part of the story.

Questions before you go

What is the difference between a tablao and a theatre show?

The setting and the way the evening is organised differ. A tablao may offer table-based admission and food or drinks, while Teatro Flamenco Madrid presents a production at Teatro Alfil. Check the exact ticket rather than assuming all venues include the same services.

Where can I combine flamenco with dinner in Madrid?

Corral de la Morería has restaurant options, and Cardamomo advertises show-and-tapas offers. Compare the specific package and its conditions; a general venue description does not mean food is included in every ticket.

Can I book to see a particular performer?

Use a dated official programme, then confirm that the performance matches your intended visit. General artist pages and past reviews do not establish the cast for your date.

Are these venues in the same part of Madrid?

No. Corral de la Morería is on Calle Morería in the historic centre, Teatro Flamenco Madrid is at Teatro Alfil in Malasaña, and Cardamomo is on Calle Echegaray in the Barrio de las Letras. Check the entrance address when planning your evening.
